Week 9: Purdue Week Brazen Predictions and Early Morn’ Open Thread

What’s a Purdue?

Nittany Lion

Hey you guuuuyyyys! We’re back with our brazen predictions and this week we’re optimistic as hell! Last week we nailed ‘em! I predicted Cam Brown breaking out. Chris L predicted the linebacking corps having a huge game. Eli predicted a win, and Jared undersold just how big a game Brandon Bell would have.

Let’s see what we’ve got cooked up this week:

Clay: Saquon and Miles go absolutely bonkers behind a newly confident offensive line. Barkley tops 150, Sanders tops 100. PSU rushes for 300-plus on the day against a bad Purdue football team.

DLando: Penn State scores both a defensive and a special teams touchdown.

Chris Taylor: Penn State will score 21-plus consecutive points and take control shortly after half time. Side brazen prediction: Tommy Stevens will rush for more yards than Trace McSorley.

(We at SBNation and BlackShoeDiaries..com do not promote keeping anything or anyone on the side, FWIW. Didn’t end well for Usher, won’t end well for you.)

Jared: Saquon Barkley finishes with 170 yards and a touchdown, while Miles Sanders gets in on the action with 60 yards and a touchdown of his own. Trace McSorley also finds Chris Godwin deep on a 50-yard bomb.

The defense allows a couple early scores but then clamps down, forcing four turnovers. Malik Golden and Grant Haley each pick off a pass, while Garrett Sickels carries the momentum of an incredible second half performance against the Buckeyes with two sacks and a forced fumble.

Eli: Penn State will eclipse 50 points for the first time since 2009.

Chris L: Would they be eclipsing 50 points by, say, 6 points, Eli?

I abandoned Blake Gillikin for a couple weeks there, and unsurprisingly his numbers have taken a dip. I'm sorry Blake! Blake gets back to his early-season form, and pins the Boilermakers deep all game. He averages well over 45 yards-per-punt, including three downed inside the 20.

Dena: 150 yards for Barkley. 3 TDs for Barkley. B1G player of the week for Barkley.

(I miss the old Barkley, the scores on first-and-goal Barkley...)

Aaron: Penn State forces five turnovers and returns one of them for a touchdown.

There they are, you know the deal. Schedule and open thread below. Give us your best.
