Welp. The lone change in the depth chart this week hits like a sucker-punch as senior Von Walker has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury he sustained Saturday night against Rutgers. The Nittany Lions have now lost five linebackers to season-ending injuries. While this won’t impact the defense significantly, Von Walker has been an important contributor on special teams, and will be missed on Saturday.
The lack of changes in the depth chart aside from Walker is tough to read, as there is likely to be some gamesmanship from Franklin as per usual. Connor McGovern was held out of the Rutgers game, as Franklin wanted to get by without him if possible. Will a more talented defensive front force Franklin’s hand, or will he try to hold McGovern out one more week?
