It’s the early-morning open thread for the final weekend of the regular season. Where did the time go? There were so many memories made already this season and so much that could unfold today to make this a truly special journey for the team and fans.
How brazen would someone had to have been on the first week of the season to say that Penn State would have a chance to win the Big Ten Championship, and also the National Championship, on the morning of the final game of the regular season?
We’ve had some awful brazen predictions along the way this year in our early-morning open thread post, but none were anywhere near that caliber.
Here are our staff’s brazen predictions:
Jared Slanina- Brandon “Bam Bam” Bell goes off in his final game, collecting 17 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble. Grant Haley comes up big with an interception in the end zone, denying the Spartans a score and Kevin Givens jumps on a loose ball to seal the game in the fourth quarter, sending all of Happy Valley into pandemonium.
Barkley ends the season on a high note with 140 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Mike Gesicki comes up with a huge 40-yard catch-and-run touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Chris Tayor- Penn State will score 40 points in the first half. Side brazen prediction: Penn State will play in the Big Ten Conference Championship. P.S. brazen prediction: I will drink more beer than I would normally drink following the game but I will not have a hangover on Sunday.
Eliezer Moreta-Feliz- Michigan State, with its vaunted running game, fails to go for 100 yards as a team.
Tim Aydin- Mark Dantonio won't burn any timeouts at the end of the game to spite the fans because he won't have any left.
Rowen- PSU will finally score a special teams TD, and it will come on a trick play.
Chris Lucia- MSU draws first blood, people call for Franklin to be fiured, then PSU puts on a clinic on all three sides of the ball.
Lando Landers-Nolan- A receiver/ tight end not named Godwin or Gesicki catches a touchdown, and Penn State rushes for over 200 yards.
Dena McElwain- PSU wins; MSU loses; end of story.
Here’s the list of games this week:

So let’s hear your brazen predictions fellow BSD family. Will Penn State handle MSU? Will OSU clear the path to the B1G Championship game? What amazing acts of brazen will you commit if Penn State is the East Division champion at the end of the day?
