The No. 16 Penn State Women’s Volleyball team has once again made it to the field of 64 in this season’s NCAA tournament. This would be their 36th such appearance, which, along with Stanford, makes them the only team(s) to appear in every NCAA tournament since its inception.
The Nittany Lions do come into this tournament limping a bit. They have nine losses this season, the most since 1987. They haven’t been as dominant as they have been in their 10-year, 6-time national championship run. They are 5-7 against ranked opponents, but do boast a win against then-no. 1 Minnesota. To make matters worse, Penn State is slated in the Nebraska bracket, a team that beat them twice this season.
All that said, Russ Rose is one of the best coaches in all of college volleyball, so he’ll have his team ready to play. And, depending on which Penn State team shows up starting this Saturday, you could see a deep run still from these Lions.
