The latest AP and Coaches polls are showing their rankings to be getting closer to a consensus, as both polls had Penn State ranked in the Top 15, with the AP ranking PSU number 12 and the Coaches Poll at number 14. I guess this is what making a statement win over Iowa in primetime when a lot more eyeballs can view it does to one’s perception of things. The rankings also more closely align with PSU’s current number 12 ranking by the College Football Playoff committee, although the Nittany Lions are poised to vault into the Top 10 with #4 Texas A&M, #10 Nebraska, and #11 Florida having lost yesterday. We will find out for certain on Tuesday night.
The Big Ten continues to represent quite well in the AP poll with #3 Michigan, #5 Ohio State, and #7 Wisconsin all in the Top 10. Nebraska meanwhile, plummeted ten spots down to number 20 after being on the wrong end of a 62-3 shellacking in Columbus (on that note, we here at BSD all wish Tommy Armstrong Jr. a speedy recovery).
