After a week where the depth chart saw no changes, there are some minor adjustments this week. At wide receiver, Saeed Blacknall returns to a starting role, supplanting DeAndre Thompkins at the WR (Z) position. It’s unclear how this will affect play-time as Moorhead rotates his personnel pretty freely.
It appears that the coaching staff would like to get redshirt freshman Irvin Charles more opportunities to touch the ball, as he now appears as the #2 kick returner. Since his 80-yard TD against the Gophers, Charles has been quiet. The threat of Sanders and/or Charles returning kickoffs should result in a special teams TD by the end of the year.
On the defensive side of the ball, Garrett Sickels moves ahead of Torrence Brown as the starting defensive end opposite Evan Schwan. Additionally, Brandon Bell and Manny Bowen swapped roles in the LB corps.
