Saquon Barkley was named a third-team All-American by the Associated Press on Monday. The honor comes after Barkley was previous named to the Sporting News’ second team.
Barkley is the first Nittany Lion to end up on an AP All-American team since Allen Robinson and John Urschel in 2013. In addition to national awards, Barkley was previously named first-team All-B1G, the B1G running back of the year and the B1G offensive player of the year .
He is just the eighth player in program history to rush for over 1,000 yards in multiple seasons and sits 14th both in career yards (2,378) and rushing touchdowns (23).
Barkley’s 1,302 rushing yards this season is 10th all-time for Penn State. He will look to add to that total on January 2nd when PSU heads to Pasadena to take on USC in the Rose Bowl at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN.
