Arielle Sargent of GoPSUSports sat down with Coach Franklin to preview Penn State’s Rose Bowl matchup with USC.
It actually hit me yesterday that Penn State was actually going to be playing USC in the Rose Bowl. Has been a surreal season, hasn’t it, folks?
As somebody who won’t be at the Rose Bowl and instead will be in (probably) freezing Pennsylvania, make sure you take advantage of your trip. I’ve yet to hear anyone say a negative thing about attending a Rose Bowl game, so I’m sure it’ll be a trip you won’t ever forget.
Keeping with GoPSUSports, there’s a nice feature video on walk-on wide receiver Josh McPhearson, talking about McPhearson’s family and his path to Happy Valley.
Being that I’m the recruiting guy here at BSD, I remember McPhearson visiting Penn State way back in the day, so it’s good to see that he’s landed on his feet here in Happy Valley. This story is also a good reminder of the crucial role everybody on the team plays, even the walk-ons. McPhearson has had quite the journey to Penn State, and his perspective and leadership is obviously quite valuable to the rest of the squad.
Apparently “Success with Honor” is still alive at Penn State, as the Nittany Lions came in ranked No. 5 in Time’s College Football Top 25, Ranked by Academics. The only teams ahead of Penn State are Stanford, Clemson, Temple, and Virginia Tech.
Generally speaking these lists can be kind of wonky because they don’t take into account a number of things (like what players are majoring in), but either way, it’s a good look for Penn State to be high up on these lists.
