Damar Hamlin Commits to Pitt Over Penn State and Ohio State

Black Shoe Diaries- bringing you the most positive Penn State recruiting news the internet has to offer.

As expected, former Penn State recruiting target decided to commit to Pittsburgh over the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Ohio State Buckeyes. While it was technically still a race between the Panthers and Buckeyes, it's been pretty common knowledge that Hamlin would choose the Panthers.

Penn State wasn't really involved in this one by the end, and it's not too difficult to see why. Penn State is loaded with young talent at the cornerback position, with Grant Haley, Christian Campbell, Garret Taylor, Amani Oruwariye, John Reid and Zechariah McPhearson all at the position already. Hamlin is a great player, and will likely get to see the field a lot sooner at Pitt than he would have in Columbus or Happy Valley.

As far as where Penn State looks next, they are likely done with the secondary, barring a surprise offer before National Signing Day. It's a solid pickup for Pitt, and Hamlin could even find himself on the field when the Lions and Panthers meet on the field in 2016.

(Although in the future Damar, if you want to make your hat choice less obvious, don't let the hat you're going to pick be the flattest brim and be the closest to you.)
