WRESTLING: No. 1 Penn State Hammers Michigan State

Penn State crushes its final Big Ten opponent on senior night.

Three seniors took the mat for Penn State tonight for their final regular season home dual meet in the classic blue and white singlet.  They didn't disappoint.  Nico Megaludis scored a major in the opening bout, and classmate Jordan Conaway followed him with a pin.  And the rout was on.  By the time Morgan McIntosh stepped forward at 197lbs, his teammates had laid waste to a pitiable Michigan State team.  Morg's certainly a kind and empathetic man - but not on the mat.  That's why he, too, destroyed his Sparty opponent by fall.  The final score: Penn State 41, Michigan State 3.

The seniors, of course.  Two pins and a major were just icing on the cake.

Three Completely Unrelated, Probably Useless Thoughts

1) If you can explain Jimmy Gulibon to me, I'd be very grateful.  Two not-so-good losses this weekend, and the Big Ten Championships are just around the corner.  Please leave your guidance in the comments.

2) Those three seniors - Megaludis, Conaway, and McIntosh - went a combined 141-16 in dual meets for Dear Old State.  Not too shabby.

3) Penn State's wrestled Sparty - who won a national title in the 60's - each of the last 10 seasons.  The Lions are 10-0, and have outscored MSU by a combined 332 to 70.  Sparty's never been closer than 26-13, in 2007.  In the last 5 years, the score's 195 to 12.  Hopefully Sparty falls off the schedule next season to be replaced by Iowa. Sparty would probably like that, too.
