Committany Nation (2.24.16): New 2017 & 2018 Offers, a Shane Simmons Update, and More!

It's a big week on the recruiting front, but we've got news coming your way--including a ton of new offers that went out for class of 2017 players, and an update on a very important 2016 signees (we know, they're technically not recruits anymore).

Penn State's Junior Day is this weekend (more on that later this week), but before the class of 2017 sets foot on campus, we've got some crootin' to discuss.

More New 2017 Offers!

Kurt Hinish is a WPIAL kid, a composite 3-star defensive tackle whose stock is rising. After he got the PSU offer this week, South Carolina offered him, joining Baylor, Iowa State, Ole Miss, WVU, Cuse, Temple and 5b. As with most Pittsburgh area kids, Terry Smith is his primary recruiter; he's already been on campus a few times, is a top fifteen player in the state, and will be one of a slew up this weekend for junior day.

The one four-star I'll be mentioning on here, Hamsah Nasirildeen may be a longshot, from the south, but Penn State just hopped on the bandwagon for the athlete, a top five player from North Carolina. Nasirildeen just attended UNC's junior day and he holds offers from nearly every school in the Carolinas, and has picked up offers from many schools in the midatlantic region--and now PSU. He's a top 100 player for 247, and though he seems to be a UNC or South Carolina lean, stranger things have happened in the recruiting world.

Ohio offensive tackle Joel Honigford attended junior day at Ohio State a few weeks ago, but has yet to receive an offer from the Buckeyes. He did, however, pick one up from Franklin--right before getting an offer from Oklahoma and Vandy, and right after the Mountaineers pulled that trigger. According to PennLive, the offer from the Nittany Lions was unexpected for Honigford, a three-star who also holds offers from Michigan State and Pitt. He's the #23 player in the state of Ohio, and is my favorite because his twitter background is a stormtrooper.

Three star OL Robert Martin got his official offer from Franklin and co when on an official visit in Happy Valley last week. He hails from greater Pennsylvania (aka New Jersey), and is also being pursued by Rutgers and Nebraska--but new OL coach Matt Limegrover has his eye on him. Right now his crystal ball is split, but it's early--with Penn State getting the latest prediction. Martin camped at Penn State last summer, after picking up his offers from the Scarlet Knights and Boston College, but reportedly his strong junior campaign helped him get the offer from the staff.

In addition to Honigford and Martin, the staff extended offers to a number of other offensive linemen, including West Virginia tackle Riley Locklear, who has offers from WVU, Cal and Florida State.

..and Some for 2018

The Ademilola twins from Jersey City are very good. Jayson, who projects to the interior of the defensive line, is as high as the #2 player in the state of New Jersey in the class of 2018. His brother Justin is being recruited as a linebacker but will likely grow into a defensive end.

Both were offered by the Penn State staff this week; this on the heels of an in-school visit for the duo by Urban Meyer. You can catch Jayson's tape here, and Justin's here; there's some overlap, as they play together on the line. I'm a fan.

Shane Simmons is still the best.

He was the first member of the class of 2016 (not early enrollee edition) to get his LOI in on Signing Day, he's legitimately a joy to follow on twitter, where he tweets everything and anything PSU, including this:

Shane was also part of a Penn State commit signing day party at Buffalo Wild Wings in Columbia, Maryland, and he did all this while wearing the best ugliest Penn State sweater ever. How can you not love that?

Scout just caught up with the incoming defensive lineman, where he talked about how he and his classmates were able to recruit others to commit to the program--and who was possibly the most surprising member of the class that helped them recruit (hint: he may have had jet access).

Also, his priorities? Freshman all Big-Ten, getting a ton of sacks, and getting his degree. And, of course, always dressing well.
