In case you already forgot, last Wednesday was National Signing Day, and Penn State brought in a pretty impressive group of kids as part of the 2016 recruiting class.
There are the big names, like Miles Sanders, Michal Menet and Shane Simmons. There are the specialists, Alex Barbir and Blake Gillikin. There are the lower-ranked guys with tons of upside, like Anthony Johnson, Dae'lun Darien and Shaka Toney. All in all, there's a lot to like about the class in general.
Personally, my early favorite is Shane Simmons. Ever since his verbal commitment to Penn State, way back in 2014, he has never really wavered in that pledge. There were a few points where he said he was going to think about making some official visits elsewhere, but nothing ever got in the way of his Penn State pride. He was a vocal leader for the class on social media, and an active recruiter as the class progressed.
And that's not even mentioning his play on the field. After a slightly disappointing camp series during the summer before his senior year, he came out fired up for his final high school season, and was a dominant force throughout. Combining that effort with a very strong performance in the Under Armour All-America game, Simmons shot back up the recruiting boards, and was nearly a five-star player. You have to love that determination to prove that you're one of the country's best.
That's just me, though. Who is your favorite recruit in the 2016 class, and why?
