Penn State won another wrestling title Saturday and the Nittany Lions extended their NCAA championship lead since 2007. While in New York, you may have missed a nice bit with former-Penn State wrestler and current Maryland head coach Kerry McCoy, who grew up on Long Island. Also, it appears cold, hard reality might be settling in Iowa following yet another national championship under Cael Sanderson.
On the other end of the spectrum: Michigan put an end to hockey's season, but time marches on and Matthew Skoff has joined the Reading Royals. Meanwhile, Tommy Olczyk penned a heartfelt thank you on the trip home in the wake of the loss and coming to terms with the end of his collegiate playing career.
Also going pro: The USL season is approaching kickoff this weekend and there were two additions from Penn State to the league. Matt Bersano and Brian James signed with Seattle Sounders FC2 and Toronto FC2 respectively. The USL has largely developing into the minor league system for MLS.
A call to arms feet: Sticking with soccer, a pair of former-Nittany Lions could use some help. Both Britt Eckerstrom and Tiffany Weimer, along with another Washington Spirit teammate lost many of their things when a fire destroyed part of the home of Britt Eckerstrom's family where they were staying ahead of their season. There is a gofundme page if you'd like to offer additional support.
Quick hits: Ex-Penn State Offensive Coordinator, John Donovan, has turned up with the Jacksonville Jags as an offensive quality control coach, which should be interesting given this from Allen Robinson. Be sure to check out this profile of the Penn State Equestrian Team. Finally, Penn State men's lacrosse received a verbal commitment from one of the top players from the Class of 2020. Yes, an eighth grader, this sort of thing appears to be a trend for some of the bigger prospects in lacrosse.
