Another piece of the puzzle is in place for Penn State's upcoming out of conference schedule. The Nittany Lions agreed to a Home and Home series with the George Mason Patriots of the Atlantic 10. Penn State will face George Mason this upcoming season at Bryce Jordan Center, and a return trip to Fairfax is scheduled for the 2017-18 season.
George Mason is of course known as the ultimate Cinderella, being the first mid-to-low major team to reach the final four as a double-digit seed. The Patriots are coached by former Bucknell coach Dave Paulsen. Paulsen will be on his second year with the program when these two teams first meet. His team went 11-21 (5-13 A10) in his first season.
With George Mason on the schedule, Pat Chambers' strategy of having a team from all of the areas where he wants to recruit is almost set to go for the DMV. It also becomes the fifth released game of the 2016-17 out of conference schedule, with Duke, Pitt, Grand Canyon, and one of Cincinnati/Rhode Island already on the docket.
