Report: Redshirt Freshman Kamonte Carter Dismissed From Penn State Football Team

Very disappointing news.

247Sports

According to Sean Fitz of Lions247, Kamonte Carter has been dismissed from the Penn State Nittany Lions football team.

According to the report by Fitz, Carter was dismissed "for violating team rules," which is likely as specific as Penn State will be if they can help it.

Carter was a member of the 2015 recruiting class for Penn State, and was rated as a four-star prospect on the 247Sports Composite scale, and the No. 14 athlete overall in the country (No. 238 player overall). Since joining the Nittany Lions, he had been putting on weight and training to play defensive tackle for Brent Pry's defense.

Carter, originally from Gaithersburg, Maryland, is the second Penn State football player to be dismissed from the team this offseason due to violations of team rules/off the field issues, joining Brent Wilkerson who was dismissed as a result of his being arrested for indecent assault.

Let's hope that Wilkerson's offense was just a mistake as opposed to a crime, and that he lands on his feet, either remaining as a student at Penn State, or a student athlete elsewhere.

Penn State athletics confirmed the report.

"Kam Carter was informed on April 21 that he is no longer a member of the Penn State football team for a violation of team rules. We appreciate Kam’s contributions to the program and wish him success in the future".
