Bleich makes the call for Penn State

On Thursday, 2018 OL Chris Bleich announced his verbal commitment to the Penn State Nittany Lions. While commitment wasn't much of a surprise, it's still big news for Penn State to have two commitments in the 2018 class already (Bleich joins five-star defensive end Micah Parsons).

Bleich is originally from Plymouth, Pa., but is currently a sophomore at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fl. Bleich is the first IMG kid to commit to Penn State since quarterback Michael O'Connor (who ended up transferring). Bleich isn't rated by any recruiting services yet (which is normal for 2018 kids who aren't inside the top-50), but his size alone (6'6, 305 lbs.) alone should have Penn State fans excited. Reminder- this is a sophomore in high school.

This could end up being another huge (literally and figuratively) commitment for the Lions, as IMG will always be a factory for football talent. Bleich is one of the most pro-Penn State kids I've ever seen, so not only will the Lions likely not have to worry about him flipping barring unforeseen circumstances, but he could be a major asset in the recruiting game as far as keeping PSU in the minds of kids in Bradenton, which could be helpful for both 2017 and 2018 recruits alike.

Cam Spence chooses Maryland

On Friday morning, 2017 DT Cam Spence, another IMG kid, committed to the Maryland Terrapins. It wasn't a surprise commitment, but it will be one that Maryland will have to fight hard to keep, as schools like Penn State will keep pushing hard for the four-star defensive tackle. Good on Coach Durkin and the Terps for getting Spence in the fold early, however. This weekend could prove to be even more explosive for the Terps, with former Nittany Lion target Kasim Hill seemingly set to commit, as well.

Sean Clifford is an All-American

Big news for the Penn State commit came through the wire on Wednesday, as quarterback commit Sean Clifford was chosen for the Under Armour All-America Game.

Clifford is currently the only Penn State commit slated to be in the game, but there are some other Nittany Lion targets on the roster, including RB Anthony McFarland, OL Robert Hainsey and CB Lamont Wade. By the time the full roster is announced, there will surely be other Penn State commits and targets in attendance, as well.
