Links and miscellany for your pleasure.

Buoyed by an absolutely smothering defensive effort and six first half goals, Penn State's women’s lacrosse defeated Penn 8-4 on Saturday and punched their ticket to the Final Four, their first since 1999. They will now face North Carolina on Friday, broadcast on ESPN3, with Maryland and Syracuse in the other half of the bracket, the Nittany Lions remain the last unseeded team in the tournament. The national semifinals will be at the Philadelphia Union's home, Talen Energy Stadium, in Chester, PA.

Swimming Into The Record Books: Taking a redshirt and a year overseas has paid off as Penn State men's swimmer, Shane Ryan broke two Irish national records at the 2016 European Aquatics Championships in London. Ryan is a Pennsylvania native, but his father is from Ireland and he will be competing for that nation in the 2016 Summer Olympics Games in Rio.

Zettel Sounds Off: Asked for his opinion about the latest allegations, Anthony Zettel talked about how the players got "hosed," punished for things that occurred long before they had ever stepped on campus and had nothing to do with. He also believes that Penn State is one of the few schools that could have weathered the storm.

Another Award Winner: Penn State's Assistant Athletic Director for Media and Production, Jim Nachtman, will receive the 2016 Sports Video Group (SVG) College Sports Summit Pioneer Award. Nachtman graduated from Penn State in 1990 and has spent his professional career at his alma mater between Penn State Public Broadcasting and Athletics.

"Jim is technically brilliant and incredibly innovative," says Brandon Costa, Director of SVG College. "The industry has changed so dramatically in the past two decades and Jim – always with his finger on the pulse – has kept Penn State, the Big Ten Conference, and friends in the college video community ahead of the curve. It’s that willingness to share ideas and best practices with the industry that makes him such a fitting choice for this honor."

Lastly: I'll just leave this picture of Bruce Springsteen here for our friends at Rutgera.
