Another piece of the scheduling puzzle is in place, with the report that the George Washington Colonials will be on the schedule for another two seasons. Penn State will visit George Washington next season, while the Colonials will return the trip in the 2017-18 season.
George Washington was one of the better opponents on the Nittany Lions' schedule the past two seasons, having made the NIT both seasons, and winning it this past season. While they lose some top end production to graduation (Patricio Garino, Kevin Larsen, and Joe McDonald all graduate), the Colonials still return talented experience in Tyler Cavanaugh and Yuta Wantanabe.
In other scheduling news, the Penn State athletics website has confirmed Penn State's participation in the 2016 Tip-off Tournament at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Penn State will open at home with two games against Marist on November 11, and Grand Canyon on November 15. The Lions, placed in the Naismith Bracket, will face the Duke Blue Devils on November 19, and will square off against the winner of Rhode Island/Cincinnati in the championship game on Sunday, November 20.
With today's announcements, the total number of reported out of conference games for next season is up to eight, factoring in the guaranteed Big Ten/ACC Challenge opponent.
Penn State and GW will begin a home-and-home series next season in D.C., source told @CBSSports. Return game in State College in 17-18.
