Brian Gaia was an #elite offensive lineman commit from Baltimore, MD (Gilman), the seventh player to verbal in the class of 2012—and he didn’t waiver in his commitment, despite the scandal that hit in the wake of his verbal.
Gaia was a three-star who has been shuffled from offense to defense (he saw time in all twelve games as a DT his redshirt freshman year) and back again, and he finally found a home on the offensive line under James Franklin. Gaia was the only lineman to start all twelve games last season, and looks to have locked down the starting center position for his redshirt senior campaign—but his versatility means he’s more of a plug and play player for new offensive line coach Matt Limegrover.
Though maligned the last few seasons, under new coordinator Joe Moorhead and Limegrover, the line is much more veteran this season with three redshirt seniors, including Gaia, and looks to make many strides.
