Fifth-year senior Wendy Laurent takes the spotlight today. Laurent stands 6’2’’ and 290 pounds, and has started eight games in two years of playing time at Penn State.
Laurent was not heavily recruited coming out of Princeton, New Jersey, and only received Division I offers from Navy, Buffalo, and UConn. He committed to Penn State on January 25th, 2012.
After redshirting in 2012, Laurent played in five games as a redshirt freshman in 2013, before seeing more time in 2014 and 2015. His sophomore year saw him starting three of the seven games he played in, most notably in the Indiana win where Bill Belton ran for the longest rushing touchdown in Penn State history. Laurent started five games in 2015 and helped Saquon Barkley break out onto the national stage. His ability to play either guard or center should allow him to compete for significant playing time as a senior.
Only 55 more days until Penn State Football!!
