Since there are no Penn State players wearing No. 56 on this year’s squad, it’s time to look back at the defensive end from Delaware, Eric Latimore.
Following his graduation in 2007 from Middletown High School, where he was a first-team All-State selection, Latimore enrolled at Penn State and redshirted his freshman season.
He competed with Josh Gaines for playing time in 2008, registering a sack in the season opener against Coastal Carolina, and seven tackles for the season. In 2009, Latimore played in every game and placed third on the team with 3.5 sacks. He also forced a fumble in the memorable Capital One Bowl victory against LSU.
Latimore started three of the first five games of his fourth year before suffering a wrist injury against Illinois. He returned for his redshirt senior season, starting in eight of the 13 games, and recording three sacks and 18 total tackles.
Unfortunately, despite being with multiple teams during training camp, Latimore has yet to see the field in the NFL.
56 days, ladies and gents!
