The Tale

Having camped in Happy Valley on Junior day back in July, Freiermuth was back up on campus this week and pulled the trigger, somewhat unexpectedly. He will likely be one of two TEs Penn State will take in this class.

Freiermuth had interest from Michigan and Notre Dame, though he didn’t have offers from those programs yet. His commitment is Penn State’s fourth in the 2018 class (all four star players), and has them sitting pretty at the fourth best class in the nation in the all-too-early rankings.

The Outlook

Freiermuth is the number 7 Tight End in the 2018 class, first in the state of Massachussetts, and 124th nationally. Freiermuth will come in right after Mike Gesicki is set to graduate (unless he leaves early), and should be able to compete for a starting job right away. At 6’4", 225 lbs., he already has the frame to compete, but still has one more year to add on.

Welcome to Penn State, Pat!
