Today we get to remember one of the all-time greats to play for the Nittany Lions. While I was learning to walk, Ki-Jana Carter was running over opposing defenses. In three seasons, Ki-Jana accumulated 2,829 rushing yards, at an average of 7.2 yds/carry, and 34 touchdowns. For his performance in the 1994 Rose Bowl, in which PSU beat Oregon, Carter was inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame in 2014. Famously, Joe Paterno uncharacteristically encouraged Carter to leave school early and enter the draft.
But really, what am I going to tell you about Ki-Jana that you don’t already know? Penn State fans are well-versed in the lore that surrounds Carter and the other members of the ‘94 team. Many of you have first-hand memories of him that are much more vivid than the highlights I can watch on Youtube. In honor of the best player to wear the number 32 for Penn State, I entreat you to share some of your fondest memories of Carter in the comment section so us young folks can appreciate his spectacular talent.
