If you’re looking for potential breakout players for Penn State’s offense in 2016, running back Mark Allen is a great place to start. Sure, the Nittany Lions are loaded with young and talented receivers who are primed to make an impact. But Allen has a loaded skillset that seems to make him the perfect X-factor for Joe Moorhead’s fast-paced offense.
Despite his small stature at 5’6’’ and 181 lbs., Allen has shown tremendous ability as a blocker, regularly standing up players with a major weight advantage. He has a fantastic burst that helps him break through the tiniest of creases for major yardage. He also should be an asset out of the backfield to add a dangerous wrinkle to Penn State’s offense.
With Saquon Barkley sitting out the Blue-White Game, Allen was the best back on the field for the Nittany Lions. He’ll be in the midst of a crowded backfield, but with playmaking ability and a broad skillset, Allen will be too good to keep off the field.
Just eight more days, folks!
