A Centre County native (by way of Lock Haven), Von Walker epitomizes Bill O’Brien’s ramped-up efforts to find “run ons” at a time when scholarships were a precious commodity for the program. As a key player on special teams his first two seasons, the senior linebacker earned himself a much-deserved scholarship in the Spring of 2015 (see video above).
In his first year as a scholarship player, Walker saw action in all 13 games of PSU’s 2015 season, starting in two of them. He recorded 10 total tackles (six of them unassisted) and most notably, blocked a punt against Michigan that helped set up PSU’s lone touchdown of that game. He will once again be expected to contribute some fresh legs off the bench at the linebacker position while continuing to be the solid special teams player he has been since his freshman year.
And with that, we’ve hit the silver number of ‘days until Penn State football’ mark. (Don’t fight that tingling sensation you just felt from reading that last sentence, embrace it)
