We’re almost there! Only two more days until Penn State’s first football game!

As with many defensive positions over the past two years, Marcus Allen was thrown into the fire as a freshman due to injuries to people ahead of him. Allen, however, made the most of his opportunity, proving to be a force to be reckoned with in 2014.

Allen made his first start against Ohio State in 2014, a game where he had 11 tackles (four solo) and two passes deflected. He went on to have 58 tackles, two for loss, a sack, and three passes deflected in the season.

Allen’s 2015 was a bit of an up and down season based on the expectations he set in 2014. A nagging shoulder injury may have been a factor in his performance. There were a few games where he was the Marcus Allen of old, and in some he seemed out of it. He still finished the season with 81 total tackles, five tackles for loss, a sack, two passes deflected, a fumble recovery, and two forced fumbles.

A year older, and healthy, Allen is poised to have a monster season in 2016. Maybe his is the season where he adds a few interceptions to his already decorated stat sheet.

Two more days!
