The familial ties are beginning to grow strong in Penn State. Earlier this year, Oskar Autio, Erik’s younger brother, committed to play hockey for Guy Gadowsky’s Nittany Lions. Tuesday evening, another younger brother announced his intent to do the same.

Christian, younger brother of alternate captain Chase, currently plays for the Madison Capitals of the USHL, the same team that produced current Lions’ rearguard Cole Hults.

Berger has produced at a steady rate throughout high school, totaling 29 points in 34 games with St. Louis University High. He has been held without a point just five games into his USHL career, but his offensive abilities should get him on the score sheet sooner rather than later.

At just 17-years-old, it may be a while before Christian dons the blue and white. A couple more seasons in the USHL may also be beneficial for the undersized (5-foot-10, 150 pounds) defenseman.
