Congratulations to the Nittany Lions’ women’s volleyball team, co-BigTen champions, picked as the No. 1 overall seed in the 2017 NCAA women’s volleyball tournament. The other top seeds are Florida, Stanford and Kentucky.

With the top seed, Penn State will be one of the 16 hosts for the first and second rounds of the NCAA tournament. Play starts at Rec Hall on Dec. 1 with a 5 p.m. matchup of Pittsburgh vs VCU. The second match of the night at 7:30 p.m. features the host Nittany Lions (29-1) vs Howard (16-15).

With the No. 1 overall seed, with two wins in the opening weekend, Penn State would also host the regional on Dec. 8 and 9.

Penn State is one of eight Big Ten teams to make the tournament, along with Nebraska, picked as No. 5, and Minnesota, picked as No. 7. Wisconsin, Michigan State, Michigan, Purdue, and Illinois all earned a spot in the tournament.
