Barkley, Gesicki Named First Team All-B1G

McSorley, Hamilton among others honored

NCAA Football: Penn State at Iowa Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Saquon Barkley was named first team All-Big Ten at running back on Wednesday by both the coaches and the media.

The selection comes after Barkley was named the first team kick returner by both on Tuesday.

Joining him on media first team is tight end Mike Gesicki, who was named to the second team by the coaches behind Wisconsin’s Troy Fumagali.

Trace McSorley finds himself on both second teams, behind Ohio State quarterback JT Barrett.

Joining McSorley and Gesicki on the coaches second team are wide receiver Daesean Hamilton and left tackle Ryan Bates. Both Bates and Hamilton were also named to the third team by the media.

The only honorable mention selection was redshirt sophomore wide receiver Juwan Johnson, who had a breakout performance including a walk-off touchdown reception against Iowa and began to show why many feel he could be a big part of Penn State’s offense in 2018-19.
