While a homecoming showdown against Rutgers should help the team get back on track, key absences on the depth chart will serve as a reminder of where the season went wrong. The losses of Ryan Bates and Ryan Buchholz are significant blows to both the offensive and defensive lines for Penn State. With Bates injured, Will Fries and Chasz Wright take over as the team’s starting offensive tackles. In Ryan Buchholz’s stead, we will continue to see redshirt sophomore Kevin Givens. Givens made his first start at defensive end against Michigan State, and will be called upon to provide some life to the Nittany Lions pass rush.
