Cornerback coach Terry Smith was busy on the recruiting trail in 2017, hauling in a trio of corners — Lamont Wade, Donovan Johnson, and DJ Brown. The latter of the three, Brown, hails from Georgia, but committed to the Nittany Lions shortly following his visit to Penn State for the Blue-White game.

Highlights
Scouting Report
Brown has the makings of a good cornerback. He displays good instincts in coverage, whether in man or zone. He shows good speed, with a number of his highlights chasing down opposing players from the other side of the field. He’s a little bit on the smaller side, but still adequate height and length at 5-foot-11. Although there’s nothing Brown does exceptionally well, there’s definitely tools here to become a solid cornerback.
Outlook

With four of its top five corners returning, and with Lamont Wade in the same class, it’s highly likely that Brown will take a redshirt season. He’s still on the smaller side of things, only weighing about 175 pounds, so a gap season where he can focus on adding mass will be beneficial for him.
