Highlights

The Tale

The Nittany Lions offered Bolds last winter, and while he’s had some academic problems to hurdle, he took an official visit to Penn State in November for the Iowa game. Since then, James Franklin and company have kept tabs on Bolds’ academic progress, and on National Signing Day, they re-offered the New Jersey big man who was quick to announce his commitment to Penn State.

Outlook

As you can see by looking at his offer sheet, Bolds is a talented prospect, but there’s been questions if he was going to qualify. Those questions may still not be answered, but Penn State obviously feels confident enough to give him the green light and accept his commitment.

If he qualifies, Bolds has all the makings of a Big Ten caliber defensive tackle. He’s got solid height, is thickly built, and displays the short-area burst that one wants to see from an interior defensive lineman. He’ll also offer some versatility, as it looks like he can play the 1-technique or the 3-technique in Penn State’s 4-3 defense.

Welcome to Happy Valley, Corey!
