NIT Forecast: Penn State Projected as a Five Seed

NYC Buckets has Penn State in its NIT projections as a 5-seed, playing 4-seed Ole Miss in the first round.

NYC Buckets put out their latest NIT bracketology and Penn State appears as a five seed, playing Ole Miss in the first round. The website, formerly known as Big Apple Buckets, focuses on conferences around the northeast, and routinely releases NIT, CBI, and CIT brackets as the regular season comes to a close.

With five games left in the regular season, Penn State would have to win three more games to feel confident about their NIT chances. Three of those five games are on the road, but only two of them are against the top half of the Big Ten. If the Lions can take care of business at home and steal another one or two wins on the road, they should be in great position to meet this projection.

Penn State goes on the road again to face a Nebraska team whose record is not indicative of their ability. If the Lions can come away with a win, making the postseason for the first time since 2011* will be a real possibility.

*We don’t count the CBI.
