Chris Godwin and Garrett Sickels Invited to NFL Combine

The Penn State duo will look to showcase their abilities in Indy

Two former Penn State players will return to Lucas Oil Stadium for the first time since winning the Big Ten Championship to showcase their skills at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine. Defensive end Garrett Sickels and wide receiver Chris Godwin will participate in the Combine, which will be held Feb. 28-March 6.

Godwin will participate with the wide receivers and tight ends on Saturday, March 4, while Garrett Sickels will have an opportunity to impress NFL scouts on Sunday March 5, which is reserved for defensive linemen and linebackers. Many of the Combine activities will be televised on the NFL Network.

Both players decided to forgo their final year of eligibility to chase their dreams of playing in the NFL. While both would have played an essential part of Penn State’s defense of a Big Ten Championship in 2017, the blow of their departures should be softened by plenty of returning talent, as well as the emergence of some highly-touted players at both the wide receiver and defensive end positions.

Sickels was a three-year starter during his time at Penn State, and broke through during his redshirt junior season to amass 47 tackles, six sacks and 12.5 TFLs. Godwin was among the most dominant receivers in program history. In his final two seasons at Penn State, Godwin collected 128 receptions for 2,083 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Best of luck to Chris and Garrett as we look forward to watching them play on Sundays this fall!
