Leading off, the beautiful this weekend may have you longing for some football and tailgating. If that is the case, Joe Moorhead sat down with The Morning Call while in the Lehigh Valley for a coaching clinic and did a little question and answer session. He talked about the hometown kid, Saquon Barkley, carving out an offensive identity at Penn State, this past season, and a little about what he expects going forward. The entire thing was really well done.
An Apology: Meanwhile, if you were one of the poor souls that spent money at FloWresting for the stream of the National Duals Championship in Stillwater, chances are you were left disappointed. FloSports CEO Martin Floreani has issued an apology and how to get a refund if you were so inclined. It wasn't all bad news though, as David Taylor earned their Wrestler of the Week honor for his showing at the 2017 World Cup in Iran.
Fabulous Freshman: David Jones at PennLine discussed Tony Carr through the lens of a four part series with former-Nittany Lions that shared the experience of playing as freshman point guard. He combed through the last 35 years of Penn State basketball to speak with a variety of guys. The line-up includes Freddie Barnes, Danny Earl, Joe Crispin, and Talor Battle.
Quick Hits: Some unfortunate news for men’s basketball, as emerging Nazeer Bostick broke his right hand and will miss at least a couple weeks. After a close showing in the opener, losing just 6-3, Penn State baseball got swept by #1 TCU in their weekend series to kick off their season. On the other side of the coin, softball dominated the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in Atlanta outscoring their opponents 19-6. Men’s lacrosse climbed up to #10 in the rankings after doubling up Cornell Sunday.
