Michigan Got The Whiteout

The Michigan Wolverines will be this year’s whiteout opponent. Not a surprising move, but exciting nonetheless.

In news that will surprise absolutely no one, Penn State athletics announced earlier today that The Michigan Wolverines will have the honor of being this year’s opponent in the annual Beaver Stadium Whiteout. The game, scheduled for October 21st, is likely to get a primetime spot on either ABC or Fox.

Dating back to 2004, Beaver Stadium has “whited out” an opponent on an annual basis. It started out as a student-only affair, and has evolved into the mammoth that it is today. Michigan has been the second most frequent opponent during a whiteout, with Ohio State being the first. Other teams to have had the honor are Purdue (2004), Notre Dame (2007), Illinois (2008), Iowa (2009), and Alabama (2011).
