The #13 ranked wrestler pound for pound in the class of 2017 and the top 145 lb in the nation, former Iowa State commit Jarod Verkleeren, has shocked the wrestling world by committing to Penn State, he announced on his twitter Sunday. The Hempfield (PA) High product captured the state title this year and just so happens to be a Cadet World, yes World, Champion. He joins a class featuring studs Brady Berge and Nick Lee, both ranked top 10 P4P, as well as top 10 P4P 2016 recruit Mason Manville, who just yesterday won the world team trials in Greco-Roman to send him to the Senior World Championships in Paris in August.
After a very long process I decided to continue my Academic and wrestling career at Penn State University. #WeAre

It is unclear where, when, or even if Verkleeren ever projects into the PSU lineup. One thing is becoming abundantly clear, however. Cael and company are lapping the field.
