The Tale
John Harrar was, until recently, a Tight End commit for Army West Point. This is partially the reason why only two other schools have offers on the table for basketball. On the football side, Harrar has offers from Wake Forest, Temple, Rutgers, New Mexico, and other smaller schools.
As it turns out, Harrar decided to pursue basketball instead and Penn State was one of the first schools to jump on board. Having had little to no time to showcase his talents, the recruiting services actually show rankings for football instead of basketball.
Outlook
The frountcourt is suddenly crowded with the commitment of Harrar. He however has a skillset that will prove useful to the Nittany Lions moving forward, and if he doesn’t redshirt this season he’ll provide much needed depth. More importantly, it looks like John can shoot.
With this commitment, Penn State has now filled two of the three departures from last month. Don’t be surprised if Pat Chambers decides to keep the last scholarship in his back pocket for a 2018 addition.
Welcome to Penn State, John!
