The countdown has begun, meaning its time to get serious about looking forward to the fall and the 2017 season. While Penn State has several intriguing match-ups scheduled throughout the season, which one are you personally looking forward to the most?
For me, it’s the Ohio State game in Columbus on Oct. 28, and it’s not even close. The Penn State-Ohio State contest is typically the highlight of my sports year, as it comes with 365 days worth of bragging rights with all of my Buckeye family and friends. But this year, there is so much more on the line. This is a potential top five match-up, as both teams return plenty of talent and are expected to compete for Big Ten supremacy and a potential playoff berth. When it’s all said and done, this could wind up as the most impactful regular season game of the college football season.
Now if you’re a longtime fan who remembers the days of the heated annual rivalry with Pitt, it could be the week two contest with the Panthers as Penn State hosts its in-state rival for the first time since 1999. Or you may be anticipating the Michigan game on on Oct. 21 when the Wolverines roll into Happy Valley, in the hopes that the Nittany Lions can exact some revenge after suffering a 49-10 drubbing in 2016. Penn State will also host Nebraska in the penultimate game of the regular season and attempt to defeat the ‘Huskers for the first time as a conference foe. The week four game at Iowa is also intriguing, and seems likely for a prime time kickoff in Kinnick Stadium, where the Hawkeyes are always tough to beat under the lights.
What say you, BSD reader? Which game has you the most hyped for the start of the 2017 season?
