Kickoff times have been announced for a number of football games across the board, and Penn State picked up a few entries on the list. To go along with the Akron announcement from earlier in May, times for the home games against Pitt and Rutgers, as well as road contests against Northwestern and Ohio State have been announced.
Penn State will face Pitt at 3:30 on ABC, putting the Lions on the network for the first two weeks of the season. Penn State will also face Northwestern at Noon in Evanston, which is also the third straight noon game between the programs (both 2014 and 2015 games kicked off at noon). As is usually the case with Homecoming games, Rutgers is also set for a noon kickoff. Networks for either game have yet to be determined.
The surprising time in the group is the 3:30 kick for the Ohio State game. Penn State and Ohio State have kicked off at 8 PM for the past four years straight. Given that the game is on Fox instead of the traditional ABC or ESPN, a likely reason is that Fox has a scheduling conflict and decided that whatever is on at 8 PM takes precedence over the game.
With Ohio State kicking off at 3:30, and Michigan being the Whiteout, it’s almost guaranteed that it will have the 8 PM start. We’ll report on the network as soon as it becomes available.
