Connor McGovern enrolled early at Penn State, taking part in winter workouts and spring practices during the 2016 spring semester. This proved to be invaluable for McGovern, as he earned a starting spot at offensive guard for the Nittany Lions during his freshman campaign. At the end of the season, McGovern was named All-Big Ten Freshman honorable mention by BTN.
Heading into 2017, McGovern will still be a stalwart along the offensive line, but he’ll have a new home, as he was moved to center to take over for the departing Brian Gaia. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound rising sophomore is no stranger to center, having played the position in high school.
Just 66 more days, folks.
