The five-star quarterback and Georgia native originally committed to PSU last December when he was still a four-star who was trending a tad under the radar. That all changed rather quickly when he blew up on the clinics circuit, wowing coaches and scouts to earn himself the fifth star and a slew of offers from numerous SEC schools and Florida State (along with an Elite 11 invite). Penn State could very well still get a visit from Fields during the season, but keep in mind that it is quite rare for a recruit to re-commit to the school he had previously decommitted from. It remains to be seen which quarterbacks James Franklin and staff will look to fill the void, but we’ll probably be hearing about some targets sooner rather than later.
