The Penn State basketball program just announced its non-conference schedule for the 2017-18 season, filling out the gaps for the games we didn’t already know on the schedule. The 13-game schedule will include road trips to NC State in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, and George Mason as part of a home and home, as well as neutral site games against two of Texas A&M, Pitt, and Oklahoma State, in the Legends classic.
If you notice something strange about this schedule, namely the huge gap between the NC State game and the George Washington game, that’s due to the Big Ten’s adjusted conference schedule this season. Two Big Ten games are sandwiched between the non-conference schedule in order to accommodate the earlier Big Ten Tournament dates this upcoming sesaon.
Overall, this schedule seems to be a departure from Pat Chambers’ usual “not too light, not too tough” philosophy. We’ll have more on the schedule itself in a later article. For now, here’s each opponent in more detail:
