We’re 59 days until the Penn State Nittany Lions kick off the 2017 season against the Akron Zips, and fifth year senior tackle Andrew Nelson is our man of the hour!
It’s been a long and winding road for the Hershey High School graduate. Nelson joined Penn State in 2013, just one season removed from the imposition of the Sandusky sanctions. Despite substantial needs on the offensive line, Nelson redshirted his freshman year, then immediately moved to the top of the depth chart, first at right tackle, then shifting left at the end of the year. Nelson remained Penn State’s best offensive lineman over the next two years, but missed four games in 2015 and eight games last season due to injury. Now, back for his fifth year, Nelson looks to anchor a line that finally has sufficient talent and depth to compete with the rest of the Big Ten.
Good luck this season, Andrew!
