Only Reggie Givens Until Penn State Football

We’re 58 days until the Penn State Nittany Lions kick off the 2017 season against the Akron Zips, and we’re taking a break from our offensive lineman review to head back to Linebacker U. Former Fiesta Bowl defensive MVP Reggie Givens is our man of the hour!

Givens was one of (if not the) top prospect coming out of Virginia in the 1980s and, more impressively, started as a true freshman on a Joe Paterno-led Nittany Lions squad. At 220 pounds, the undersized Givens was all over the field, terrorizing opposing squads. He finished his career in style, leading Penn State to a 47-17 win over the Tennessee Volunteers in the Fiesta Bowl, where he picked off a pass and forced a fumble. He was selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the 213th overall pick in the 1993 NFL Draft, and spent the next seven years playing in the NFL and Canada.
