Saquon Barkley has had a tremendous impact on this Nittany Lion squad. One the aspects of his impact has been the reshuffling (or transferring, in some cases) of the running back group.
Nick Scott started his career at running back, seeing most of his use on special teams. He got a start at running back during the 2015 season, when both Barkley and Akeel Lynch were injured.
Scott later made the switch to safety, and has been there since. Last season, Scott saw time in 13 games, mostly on special teams. He recorded eight tackles (three solo), with three coming against Maryland.
Scott competed with Troy Apke for the safety spot vacated by Malik Golden’s departure this offseason, and, while it looks like Apke won the job, expect Scott to see substantial time on the field this season.
