Only T.J. Johnson Until Penn State Football

Only 27 days until the Nittany Lions play again!

NCAA Football: Michigan State at Penn State Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Nittany Lion #27 cornerback T.J. Johnson came to Penn State as part of the 2016 recruiting class from Euclid, Ohio. During T.J.'s senior year of high school he racked up 31 tackles, 5 interceptions and 13 passes and gained a nod as an All-Ohio Division 1 team member.

Although 2016 was his redshirt season at Penn State, T.J. had a strong performance in the 2016 Blue White game, gaining playing time (with John Reid hurt and Grant Haley not playing). Johnson picked off a pass in the third quarter of the spring game, and snagged five tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss.

His height at 6’2” makes T.J. the biggest corner on the team. Combine that with his athleticism and T.J. may not be on the backup cornerback list (behind Grant Haley and Christian Campbell) for long.
