The Tale

Keaton Ellis becomes the first commitment of the 2019 season for the Nittany Lions. He’s also the first State College commitment since Alex Kenney in 2010. Ellis is a fast athlete that plays both wide receiver and defensive back, and has a reported 4.39 40 time. At 170 pounds, he’ll probably need to bulk up some, but he has two seasons to put on some weight in high school before he enters the Penn State weight program.

While no offers have been reported, Ellis also saw interest form Pitt, Notre Dame, and Northwestern, among others.

Outlook

Ellis is in the mold of every athlete that has committed under James Franklin. He’s fast, has a nose for the ball, and can make big plays happen on special teams. Special teams is most likely where Ellis will start his career as a Nittany Lion, allowing him to go through Penn State’s weight program while also making a difference on the field.

Welcome to Penn State, Keaton!
