Penn State has opened as an overwhelming 38.5 point favorite against its week three opponent, the Georgia State Panthers. It is the largest starting point spread for the Nittany Lions since 2007, when they opened as a similar 38.5 point favorite against Florida International, a game Penn State won 59-0.

The Nittany Lions will take on Georgia State for the first time in program history on Saturday. Georgia State fielded its first football squad in 2010, and moved up to FBS as a member of the Sun Belt Conference in 2013. The Panthers are coming off a 3-9 season in 2016, and currently stand at 0-1 this season after dropping its first game against Tennessee State. Georgia State appeared in the Cure Bowl in 2015 after a 6-6 regular season, losing to San Jose State by a score of 27-16.

Penn State and Georgia State will face off on Saturday at 7:30 in Beaver Stadium, in a game televised by BTN.
