While Penn State was busy getting ready for its matchup with Iowa, the rest of the sports media world was shocked and appalled by the horrific actions of James Franklin last Saturday. With the Nittany Lions up 56-0 and Georgia State ready to kick a field goal, Franklin took a timeout to send out his second-team field goal blocking unit — or, as some saw it, an attempt to ice the kicker.
This might surprise you, but people were #mad #online and on the radio all week. This morning, ESPN allowed “James Franklin” — AKA Penn State alum Keegan-Michael Key — time to respond to his critics:
